Additional Information:In 1940, Violette's mother asked her to go find a suitable French soldier to spend Bastille Day with their family. Bastille Day is France's Independence Day. While looking for a good candidate, Violette met Etienne Szabo. Etienne Szabo was a highly decorated French soldier, who won some honors, for example Medaille Militaire. Within a very short time, Violette had married Etienne despite the age difference of twelve years. Violette had gotten a job at GPO as a telephonist, while Etienne had gone back to war. Violette had later gone to training to become a part of the ATS, but shortly had to stop, because she found out she was pregnant. Her daughter, Tania was born on June 8, 1942, Violette then started working in an aircraft factory. Only three months after Tania's birth, Etienne was killed in North Africa.
This is Violette and her daughter, Tania. Violette's husband, Etienne had died only three months after Tania's birth. Etienne's death was part of the reason why Violette became a spy.
